Remember, the NZ Building Code requirements are minimum standards and we strongly recommend that a new house build should aim to achieve well above Code.

Lifemark is an independent and intelligent design certification that is awarded to homes that have been well designed and when built are easy and safe to live in.
Easily usable heights for electrical switches, lever action door handles and access to and around the property are some examples of the features in a Lifemark certified design.
Having your home Lifemark certified gives you an assurance that your house will not only be fit for purpose at your current point in life but it also considers the future proofing of your biggest investment.
This means that features can easily be added in the future as your situation changes enabling you to stay in your home longer and be more independent.
Elements such as accessible showers and grab rails can be planned into the design now for installation at a later date should they be required.
