The team at David Reid Homes are building a new show home that has been designed by ADarchitecture to achieve a Homestar rating of 7.
There is some additional capital cost (of approximately 3-10%) required to construct a new home to this standard over one that could be built to achieve compliance with the NZ Building Code and which would probably only achieve a Homestar rating of 3-4. This represents excellent value, considering the improved health of the occupants and reduced energy costs over the lifetime of the building.
