The building committee wanted a replacement building for the 100 year old cottage that was serving as the home of the Paraparaumu Playcentre.
While it had character and charm, the old building was becoming impractical and a potential health and safety risk to the staff and children which frequented the facility so the decision was made to demolish and rebuild.
As all the funds were to be either donated or fund raised, budget was one of the most important aspects of the project therefore a number of designs and amendments were explored and costed before the final design meet with approval.
The design had to be modern, low maintenance, light, fully accessible, safe to use and most importantly practical.
The project finished in 2013 on budget and will see the Playcentre future proofed for a good number of years to come.
“ Jon was able to translate our vision into a spectacular building. We were able to go back to the drawing board and find a way to reduce our costs and he was able to meet our needs in planning and project managing the build. He was gracious working with such a large group of individuals and was able to communicate within our team to meet the goals of the centre. We are delighted to be back in our warm, bright and spacious new building. ”
